FAQ

What’s the best way to use this site?

Consider individual categories for new ideas, then scroll through to find your nearest venue. Alternatively, use the Search function to see what pops up for your town. Once you find something that catches your eye, follow the website link for additional information.

Have you been to all the places you cover?

We wish! So far, we’ve been to most major cities, and much of the coast. We’ve done a little bit of travel inland, but nowhere near as much as we’d like. This site is our way of sharing some things we’ve already enjoyed, and keeping track of others we hope to try in the future.

How do you decide whether or not something will appeal to older children?

This one’s all personal experience. If an event or venue gets the stamp of approval from the tweens in our family and friendship circle, we’re pretty confident it’ll elicit enthusiasm from others as well!

Where are all the kids in your photos?

We’re big believers in letting children make their own decisions about leaving digital footprints. Consequently, we try not to capture too many faces in our pictures, even if that means shooting at odd times in less than optimal light.

Why is Big Kids Down Under so city-centric?

Well, we live in a city, so cities are what we know best. In fact, the majority of Australians live close to a major metropolitan area. Cities also offer the most in terms of availability and options. But keep an eye out for more regional listings and reviews as this site continues to grow.

Why don’t you include information like opening hours and fees on each listing?

Our goal is to highlight a wide range of activities and resources for tweens. We want to focus on continuously adding new experiences, rather than wasting time updating minor changes in operational details at individual venues.

Can you add my business to your listings?

Maybe. Get in touch, tell us what you offer and why it’s especially suited to older children, and if it seems relevant to our readers, we’ll add you.

Our big kids LOVED something, but it’s not included on your site.

Please visit our Contact page and tell us about it. We’d love to hear what you’ve discovered!
